THOMAS, Sharon Ann - Age 85, of Swartz Creek, passed away on October 6, 2026, following a difficult battle with Cancer.
Sharon was born in Flint, Michigan, on January 22, 1941, to Ward and Vera (Gillett) Walworth. She graduated from Flint Central High School in 1958 and then attended Flint Junior College for nearly two years before leaving college to work full time, building a nest egg for marriage.
Sharon married Leonard “Len” Thomas on August 25, 1962, at Court Street United Methodist Church. They made their home in Flint, where they raised their two children, Scott Thomas and Jayna (Thomas) Ankley.
A celebration of Sharon’s life will be held at Court Street United Methodist Church, 225 West Court Street, Flint at 11am on Friday, October 16, 2026. Pastor Jeremy Peters officiating.
Visitation will be held from 4-8pm on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road Flint, and 10am Friday until the time of the service at the church.
The final resting place will be Elmwood Cemetery in New Lothrop, MI.
Sharon, an incredible and talented woman, never seeking the spotlight. She was a steadfast member of Court Street United Methodist Church for more than 75 years and a member of the Genesee Star Quilters. Quilting brought her great joy, so she created numerous quilts for friends and family. Sharon also volunteered with the Carrington (Flint MI) Chapter of the National Society of Daughters of the Union. As part of that service, she and Len carried a Michigan Civil War flag during a Save The Flags event at the Michigan State Capitol in Lansing.
Sharon will be remembered for her loving kindness, and support for others. Friends, family, and acquaintances all recognized how much she cared and wanted success for all, even those she had just recently met. Sharon was universally loved by all who knew her, and she shared her joy of life with everyone. She was especially proud of all of her grandsons, who brought her so much pride, joy and happiness when they were together for family gatherings -- Especially those “Family Weekend” gatherings at the cottage off Otsego Lake near Gaylord, a home that had such a special place in her heart, where she loved to be with friends and family.
Sharon specifically loved the Christmas holiday season, and she always decorated her home at Christmas with several trees. She truly enjoyed the pre-holiday weekend when grandsons, Ryan, Paul, Spencer, Owen and Daniel came to the house to set up the Christmas Train and decorate. Sharon also loved cooking, spoiling family with her pies, cookies and home-cooked meals. Family will always remember how grocery-store boxed stuffing was NO match for her home-made stuffing for the Thanksgiving holiday. She was particularly deliberate in making specially requested meals for Jayna and Scott for their birthdays.
Sharon leaves to cherish her memory son, Scott Thomas; son-in-law, Joseph Ankley; beloved grandsons, Ryan (Keelie) Thomas, great-granddaughter, Piper; and Daniel Thomas; Paul (Libby) Ankley; Spencer and Owen Ankley; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Snell; brothers, Wayne Walworth and Donald (Laura) Walworth; Cousin Joanne Cormier; nephew, Mark Ruebke; niece, Martha (Ed) Hanley; a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews; and many supportive friends.
Sharon was predeceased by her husband Len, daughter Jayna Lynne (Thomas) Ankley, parents, an infant daughter, sister-in-law Marilyn (Thomas) Wilson, brothers-in-law, William Wilson and Leo Ruebke, sister-in-law, Katherine Walworth and niece, Stacy Walworth.
Sharon spent her life sharing joy, support, love, and happiness with everyone she knew. Her thoughtfulness, and loving spirit will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched.
