GIBSON, Gaylen, age 71 passed on to Glory on May 1st, 2020.
Graveside service through Swartz Funeral Home.
Gaylen was the eldest son of Jules R. and Melva Gibson, who preceded him along with brother Eddie and youngest son Allen. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife Pauline, son Gail, daughter Angie, brothers, Fred and Greg (Karen), sister Sherry, stepdaughters, Deborah and Pamela, as well as many grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Surrounded by his loving wife and family, Gail slipped away peacefully on a bright and sunny morning, while his favorite tunes played by his side.
Born in Flint and graduating Southwestern High School in 1966, Gail hired into Buick and worked there for 37 years. Known to friends and family as Gibby, Gail was a motorcycle enthusiast in his early years, and later enjoyed bicycling with friends. Gail had a lifelong passion for firearms and lore of the old west. In addition, he was a walking encyclopedia of popular music from the 50s to today’s hits as well as a very accomplished cabinet maker and finish carpenter. Playing league pool was Gail’s biggest pleasure for many years, and he was a very skilled shootist. For the past several years, euchre and poker filled his days with joy, and inspired friends to coin the name of a popular poker game, “Gibby No-Peek.” Few things were more satisfying to Gail than a well-made movie or a book that he could totally immerse himself in. With all these interests, Gail still found time to enjoy photography, particularly the Victorian “Painted Lady” houses throughout the state. Memories of several epic vacations in a number of countries are treasured by his family. Gail’s compassion, love of life and selfless friendship will be sorely missed until we meet again. Leave a light on, Gail.
