BLAKEMORE, John Horace - Of Flint, age 82, died Saturday, May 2, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his family.
A private burial will be held at Flint Memorial Park and a public memorial service will be held at a later date after pandemic restrictions are lifted.
John was born in Holcomb, Missouri on August 31, 1937, the son of Pickens and Edith (Hartley) Blakemore. On January 29, 1962, he married Martha Jean Robinson and they were married for 49 years until she preceded him in death on March 28, 2011. John proudly served his country in the United States Army. He worked as a press operator for General Motors for 30 years. He enjoyed going up north, fishing, working outdoors, walking his black lab Bear, shuffleboard, reading and visiting the library. John attended South Flint Nazarene until its closure and most recently attended Family Community Church of the Nazarene. He was a hardworking, kind, and loving man. Above all else, John loved his family and spending time with them.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Dawnette Blakemore;
granddaughter, Aliscia (Chad) Loudermilk;
great-grandchildren, Colten "Colten John" and Cayleb Loudermilk;
sisters, Carol Blakemore, Mary Nell (Les), Beals Judy (Dwayne) Cross;
sisters-in-law, Frieda Blakemore, Jacquie Blakemore, Linda (Sue) Root, Georgia (Jim) Alumbaugh, Janet Kline and Sharon Robinson;
and brother-in-law, Robert "Bobby" (Margie) Robinson. And many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his infant sister, Sharon, brothers, Joe and Jack Blakemore, brothers-in-law, David Root, Lee Kline, and Oscar “Butch” Robinson and sister-in-law Vickie Kirby and precious Pets Buffy, Rusty, Tom, Buddy and Torrie.
