Kenneth George Sherlund, born in Detroit, Michigan on February 4, 1940, to his late parents Ernest and Theresa, passed on November 13, 2025. Most of his life, he resided in Rose City Michigan. Kenneth was preceded in death by his beloved parents, brother Basil, and devoted wife Linda (Detzler) Sherlund.
Kenneth, a cherished husband, father, and community leader leaves behind a legacy of dedication and love for his family, friends, and community, as well as a passion for hunting and fishing. Kenneth moved to Rose City as a child when his parents established a restaurant, becoming active members of the community. He graduated from Rose City High School alongside his brother Basil. Kenneth pursued a career in Auto body repair after attending trade school, where he acquired his skills. His life took a joyful turn when he met Linda, the love of his life. Together, with the support of family and friends, they grew Eastside Industries, proudly continuing his parent’s legacy of entrepreneurship and community involvement. Kenneth’s warm spirit and commitment earned him the affectionate title of “The Mayor of Rose City.”
Kenneth and Linda shared a loving marriage for 55 years and were blessed with three daughters.
His eldest daughter, Laura Coleman and her husband Mike, blessed Kenneth with three grandchildren: Dwane Coleman, his wife Abby, and their daughter Henzi; Brandi Coleman, her fiancé Daniel McQuarrie, their son Ronin, and their daughter Hazel; and Brook Coleman, her fiancé Dion Fachting, and their son Clyde.
His second daughter, Kathleen Sherlund, brought Kenneth joy with two grandsons: Stefphen Shellenbarger and his daughters, Saylor and Ali; and Seth King, his wife Juliann, and their son Oakston.
Kenneth’s youngest loving daughter Julie Sherlund-Pelfrey, and her husband Duane, blessed him with a cherished granddaughter, Paige.
Kenneth, a beloved individual known for his strength and spirit, will be remembered always.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Rose City cemetery maintenance fund in Ken’s name.
