James "Jim" O. Prieur
Age 94 of New Lothrop passed away on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Chesaning Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at St. Michael Catholic Church of Maple Grove. The family will receive friends at Nelson-House Funeral Homes New Lothrop Chapel on Wednesday, August 1 from 3:00 to 8:00pm with a Knights of Columbus Rosary prayed at 7:00pm and a Prayer Service held at 8:00pm.
Jim was born in Alpena, Michigan on March 13, 1924, the son of Oliver Prieur and Eva Labrecque. He was the youngest of 8 children.
Jim was a member of St. Michael Church of Maple Grove. He sang in the choir - something he loved to do. He served his loving parish as a Commissioned Lay Minister since 1991. He was a minister of the Eucharist and Ward when our pastor was not available. Jim was a Catechist teacher at the Good News Center as well as the RCIA program. Jim was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 2943 in Chesaning, where he was a past Grand Knight. He was also a member of the Bishop Woznicki Assembly 593 in Saginaw.
Jim retired from Memorial Healthcare in Owosso in 1986 where he was a nurse technician. He was a Corporal in the US Army, serving his country from 1948-1951. Jim was an Instructor Coordinator, teaching those who wished to become E.M.T's. He has been proud of all of his EMT students for their caring love of people and their work with TTA service.
Jim leaves behind his special friend, Dan Hemgesberg, many nieces and nephews, many great-nieces and nephews, and many great-great-nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his loving mother, Eva; his father, Oliver; his caring step-father, Louis Racette; his sisters, Margaret (Norman) Garant and Marie (Rocky) Rothwell; and his brothers, Elmer (Cecelia) Prieur, Joseph (Ruth) Prieur, Leonard (Mary) Prieur, Andrew (Dorisella) Prieur, and Charles "Tom" Prieur. |
