PLOOF, David L. – of Davison, age 83, passed away Saturday, January 6, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM Friday, January 12, 2024, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 6340 Roberta Street, Burton, MI 48509; Rev. Fr. Jerry Ploof celebrant. Interment will immediately follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 2-8 PM on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the Mass on Friday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. A Scripture Service will be held at 7 PM on Thursday at Allen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church or the St. Luke NEW Life Center in Flint, in David’s memory.
David was born in Bay City, MI on November 30, 1940, son of the late Joseph and Marcella (Worley) Ploof. He married Sharon Weigandt on June 24, 1961, and she preceded him in death on February 1, 2004. David later married Martha Bartosz on October 16, 2010. David worked for Holy Redeemer and Holy Rosary Catholic Churches and then retired from Genesee Intermediate School District.
David is survived by his wife, Marti; children, John (Kelly King) Ploof, Barbara Gerber, Joseph (Kim) Ploof, David M. (Eric Rodgers) Ploof and Daniel (Amber) Ploof; 10 grandchildren; Matthew and Sarah Ploof, Andrew, Lindsay and Kelly Gerber, Gracie Ploof, Jada, Ava, Layla and Joyanna Ploof; 2 great-grandchildren, Mason Ploof and Sydnee Gerber; brother, Rev. Fr. Jerry Ploof; and many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by son-in-law, Don Gerber.
