NOCHTA, Joseph – of Flushing, age 48, passed away Sunday, May 10, 2026. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life is being planned. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Prison Fellowship Ministries, in Joe’s memory.

Joseph was born in Warren, OH on May 1, 1978, son of William and Betty (Durbin) Nochta. He was raised in Ohio, where he raised a son, Christian. Joe was employed with General Motors, starting his career in Ohio on the line and ending up in Flint as an electrician. It was in Michigan that he met and married Lindsay Bergquist on October 17, 2020. Together they were raising Joe’s great-nephew, Ayden, and stepdaughter, Maeci Rae, both of whom Joe loved as his very own. He enjoyed his job always working to the best of his ability to provide for his family and striving to grow and learn daily. Joe enjoyed sports, especially rooting for the Cleveland Browns. His hobbies included keeping saltwater aquariums, scuba diving, playing ping pong with his nephew, and working on home projects. Joe enjoyed spending time outside with his wife, kids and dogs. Joe often took the kids on lawn mower rides, let his stepdaughter give him makeovers, and enjoyed winning soccer scrimmages against the girls. Joe was a kid at heart, always making the children laugh with his funny faces, voices and tickles.

He loved God, all he met with all he could and what he had to give. His soul was kind and loving. Joe tried his best to live for God and to show God’s kindness to others. Joe felt and loved deeply, continuously giving to others; this was evident by his willingness to donate blood regularly and his final act of donating to Gift of Life. Joe would want all to know God loves them and you are never alone even in those darkest times when you can’t perceive the light, God is always there with you, and you are loved deeply.

Joseph is survived by wife, Lindsay Nochta; son, Christian Miller; nephew, Ayden Sorvillo; stepdaughter, Maeci Rae Bergquist Sikkila; mother, Betty Nochta; sister, Cindy Sorvillo; nieces, Brittany and Brianna Sorvillo; nephew, Anthony Sorvillo; great-niece, Natalie Sorvillo; great-nephew, Brayden Greathouse; and many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, William Nochta.
