LONG, Ethel Irene - of Clio, age 80, died Monday, March 19, 2018 at Hurley Medical Center. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, March 24, 2018 at O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Pastor Ken Hoard officiating.
The family will receive visitors on Friday, March 23, 2018 from 1-8 PM and on Saturday from 10AM until time of service at 11AM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to Hurley Neuro Trauma Unit, or Palliative Care on 9 East.
Ethel was born July 1, 1937 in Flushing Township at her grandmother’s home to the late Howard and Mary (Puska) Ingersoll. She grew up in Flushing and graduated from Flushing High School with the class of 1955. Ethel then went to Prairie Bible Institute in Alberta Canada and graduated in 1959. She then attended Hurley School of Nursing and graduated in 1963 as a Registered Nurse. On December 16, 1961 she married Robert Long in Flint, Michigan. They have resided in the Clio area for the past 55 years. Prior to her retirement in 1992, Ethel worked for Hurley Medical Center for 30 years. She attended the Millington Bible Church. Ethel served as a Youth Director, Sunday School Teacher, and taught Vacation Bible School at the Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Millington. She enjoyed her flowers, bird watching, sewing and crocheting. Ethel loved to cook, bake, and make jelly for her family. Her greatest joy in life was her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving are: Husband of 56 years Robert; Children, Robert (Lisa) Long, William (Tammy) Long; Grandchildren, Andrew (Laura) Long, Jessica Long, Erika (Brian) Roop, Courtney (Geoff) Miller, Kyle (Mary) Long; Great Grandchildren, Jaden Long, Brycen Long, Addilynn Roop, Greylan Roop, Emma Miller, Wylder Miller; Siblings, Charlotte Barnes, Margaret Clark, George (Gayle) Ingersoll, Marie (Ray) Trevino, Carol Kern, David (Jennifer) Ingersoll, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; Siblings, Robert Ingersoll, William Ingersoll, Howard “Bud” Ingersoll.
