Colton, Joan Maureen, of Flushing, age 76, died Sunday, March 30, 2025, at Serene Gardens of Grand Blanc. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 AM on Friday, April 11, 2025, at St. Robert Catholic Church, 310 N. Cherry St, Flushing. Fr. Brian Lenz officiating.
Joan was born in Flint, Michigan on July 15, 1948, daughter of the late Hugh and Alice (Skinner) Lethbridge. She married her high school sweetheart, Douglas Colton, on June 7, 1968, at St. Lukes Church in Flint. Douglas preceded her in death in 2018, after celebrating 50 loving years of marriage.
Joan grew up in a large family and always talked fondly about having to be tough with having three younger brothers. When the kids were hungry, they were told to go out into the garden and eat a vegetable.
Once married and with their two children, Joan and Doug gave their working years to their printing company, Best Images. She was very proud of the good work they did and the amazing team they had in their employees.
Joan could often be found in the garden or reading a book. She enjoyed sharing her garden with others as well as the company of others in numerous book clubs, both in Michigan and Florida.
Throughout her life, Joan often commented on the changing landscape of the world around her. She always believed in the goodness of people and never remained disheartened for too long. Joan was a loving daughter, sister, friend, wife, mother and grandmother. She will be missed by many.
Joan is survived by her children, Brian (Jessica) Colton and Amy (Scott) Edmonds; grandchildren, Dylan Edmonds, Blake Edmonds, Theodore Colton, and Reid Colton; and brother, Kevin Lethbridge. She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas and siblings, Hugh Lethbridge, Jr., Mary Choy and Paul Lethbridge. |
