Philip Richard Peterson passed away peacefully on October 2, 2026, at the age of 78.

Born in Wyandotte, Michigan, on December 7, 1947, Philip was the beloved son of the late Edward Peterson and Mary Ellen (LaBadie) Peterson.

On February 1, 1969, Philip married the love of his life, Terry (Weldon) Peterson, at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church in Dearborn Heights. Together, they built a life rich in devotion, joy, and family, proudly celebrating 57 years of marriage.

A dedicated professional throughout his life, Philip worked in the automotive industry for many years, contributing his talents and hard work to General Motors, Eaton Corporation, and American Axle. Beyond his career Philip was deeply devoted to his community and faith. He served faithfully as an usher at Holy Family Catholic Church, was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and shared his warmth as a therapy dog handler with Mid-Michigan Therapy Dogs.

Philip lived life to the fullest with boundless energy and passion. He was an avid golfer, played Old Timers baseball and hockey, and loved horseback riding. Known as a world traveler, gifted storyteller, great dancer, and the life of every party, he treasured singing and holding Christmas Eve dinners with his family.

He spent many joyful weekends on his boat at Port Huron, relaxing at his cottage near Stony Lake, and building his collection of John Wayne memorabilia. Above all, Philip was an extraordinary grandfather and a cherished friend to all who knew him.

Philip is survived by his loving wife, Terry Peterson; his sons, Ken (Lindi) Peterson, John (Lori) Peterson, and Danny Peterson; his grandchildren, Trevor, Tiffany, Nathan (Jazmin), Lexi, and Katey; his great-grandchild, Paetyn; his sisters, Peggy (Gerry) Kustra and Paula (Eric) Nemeth; his brother-in-law, Larry (Angie) Weldon; many beloved nieces and nephews; and his godchildren, Mike, Maggie, Nathan, Lexi, and Katey.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Mary Ellen Peterson, and his father-in-law and mother-in- law, Albert and Marge Weldon.
