Dowell, Diane - of Clio, age 86, passed away Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at McLaren Flint. Honoring her wishes, cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held on October 10 at 11:00am at Thetford Township Cemetery, Clio, Michigan.
Born on May 25, 1940, in Fairgrove, Michigan, Diane was the daughter of Curtis and Dorothy (Laux) Phillips. After graduating from Fairgrove High School in 1958, she embarked on a life filled with love, family, and dedication. Diane married her husband, William Dowell, on December 11, 1981. Their years together were filled with laughter, travel, and countless cherished memories. Diane spent 12 years as a food demonstrator for Blue Ribbon, where her warm spirit and kind heart made her a favorite among customers. She also was a secretary at Eaton Manufacturing. Outside of work, Diane was a true nature lover—she enjoyed camping, gardening, and exploring new places with William. But above all, her family was her world. Her love and devotion to them were boundless.
Surviving are: Husband, William Dowell; Children: Mark (Deanna) Vaughan, Blake Vaughan and Pat (Mary) Dowell; Grandchildren: Ryan Vaughan, Heather (Jim) Atkinson, Emily Dowell; Brother, Dennis Phillips; Sister-In-Laws: Karen Phillips, Eleanor (Dave) McKeever, Jan Dowell, Anna Dowell (Tom Howko); Brother-In-Law, John Dowell; Several great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in passing by her parents; Grandsons: Brandon Vaughan and William Dowell; Brother, Robert Phillips.
