FRANZ, David Robert - Age 75, of Linden, passed away Sunday, May 10, 2026.

Cremation has taken place, and no services will be held at this time. Arrangements were provided by Sharp Funeral Homes, Linden Chapel, 209 East Broad Street, Linden.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his memory may be made to Adopt-A-Pet Fenton, 13375 Fenton Road, Fenton, MI 48430; Lavigne Home for Compassionate Care, 4085 Lapeer Road, Burton, MI 48509; or Compassus Hospice, 545 Ali Drive, Suite 600, Grand Blanc, MI 48439.

David was born August 13, 1950, in Pontiac, Michigan, the son of George and Wilma (Barrett) Franz. He was a member of the Waterford High School Class of 1968. He married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Judith Lynn Ball, on July 19, 1969, at Peace Lutheran Church in Waterford, and together they built a beautiful life.

David worked for Ford Motor Company for 33½ years, retiring as Head of Quality Control. He also obtained his builder’s license and founded Franz Construction, which he owned and operated for many years. Over the course of his career, he built more than 80 homes in the community, including nine of his own. His final job before his illness was with Fenton Orchards. He and his wife also worked together under contract for the local homeowners association.

He had a passion for classic cars and street rods, building and restoring many over the years. A member of the Monday Night Cruisers, he especially enjoyed attending Back to the Bricks. Community-minded, David served on the Linden City Council and participated on five different boards in Fenton Township. He was instrumental in securing the current location of Adopt-A-Pet in Fenton, a cause close to his heart, as he was a lifelong animal lover and affectionately known as the “dog whisperer.” He will be remembered for his endless sense of humor and quick wit.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Judith; three children, Rob Franz, Renee Franz, and David Franz II; and granddaughter, Chloe M. Franz. He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family extends a special thank you to Brad Eldred for all his help over the years, to Compassus Hospice and the Lavigne Home for Compassionate Care, for their exceptional care.
