WILLEY, Loren A. “Coach Will” – of Clio, age 80, died Saturday, October 12, 2013 at his residence. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 AM Thursday, October 17, 2013 at Saints Charles and Helena Catholic Church in Clio. Rev. Fr. David Harvey officiating. Cremation to follow with final inurnment at Great Lakes National Cemetery at a later date. Friends may call at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio on Wednesday from 1-4 and 6-8 where a vigil service will be held at 7 PM. He will lie instate at the church on Thursday from 10 AM until time of Mass at 11 AM. Contributions may be made to the Clio Area Schools Food Bank.

Loren was born June 6, 1933 in Frankfort, MI son of the late Harry and Cora Hungerford. He lived in Clio since 1965. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Loren married Peggy Myers on December 20, 1952. Mr. Willey was a teacher and football coach at Clio High School retiring in 2001 with 36 years seniority. He was a member of Saints Charles and Helena Catholic Church. Loren was chaplain for the Michigan High School Football Coaches Association, member of Michigan Football Coaches Hall of Fame, was a finalist for the Michigan Teacher of the Year in 1992, and the recipient of the Jim Crowley Lifetime Football Achievement Award in 2013.

Surviving are: wife, Peggy; children, Blake Willey of Chicago, Jane Pillars of Clio, Sarah Willey of Clio; son-in-law, Michael Anthony of Chicago; 10 grandchildren; 1 great grandson. He was also preceded in death by: a daughter and son-in-law, Jill and James Lambert; grandson, Christopher Lambert; and a son-in-law, Jeff Pillars.
