As the Scottish Dragoons played Amazing Grace, we said goodbye to a husband, fur Daddy, son-in-law, brother, nephew, uncle and great uncle. A dear friend to all that were lucky enough to know him.
Lyle was born October 11, 1960, in West Branch, MI. He died March 23, 2024, at Ascension St. Mary's Hospital Saginaw, MI. He met his wife, Diane on a blind date in 1998. Together they blended their lives. They became best friends. Traveled thru out Michigan. Took a trip to Yellowstone National Park and enjoyed all the different states along the way. They took the vacation of a lifetime to Alaska. As they rode up the Dalton Highway they crossed the Arctic Circle, through the Yukon Valley and the Brooks Range. They found themselves in a world like no other and walked in the Arctic Ocean.
Lyle enjoyed everything about the outdoors. He learned to hunt and fish from his much older brother. He competed in many venues of shooting, skeet, trap, pistol and muzzle loading.
He was employed at Dick Williams Gun Shop and Sitting Fox Muzzle Loaders.
He belonged to the NMLRA, 1 of 1,000 endowment #386 and was a Field Rep. He was also a member of The Bridgeport Gun Club, the NRA, the Sanford Brigade re-enactment group and the Porky Pine Ridge Deer Camp. He is currently the President of the MSMLA. Last year he was nominated and received the two highest awards in muzzle loading in Michigan. He was inducted into the Northwest Council and The Spirit of Roy Keeler Society. He had a passionate devotion to promoting black powder shooting sports. Always quick to assist muzzle loading clubs and share his expertise with new shooters. His willingness to help others and leadership abilities are the reasons he received the awards.
Lyle lived. No amount of words can truly describe him.
All we have now are memories and no molasses cookies!
Honoring his wishes, cremation will take place. A memorial service will be held Saturday May 11, 2024, at the Bridgeport Gun Club; 10 am. Details for a special tribute will be shared through social media. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to the family for future designation.
Lyle is forever remembered and loved by his wife of 23 years Diane McGregor: furry companions: Winny & Fergus; Siblings Larry D. (Marie) McGregor, Lee D. (Rosalie) McGregor and MaryAnn Malecki; father-in-law Tom Rivard and companion Christine Thurman; Sisters-in-law Deb (Tim) Martin; Kathryn (Christopher) Jenkins; Many beloved nephews, great nephews, two very special nieces and one great niece Lyle was preceded in death by several furry companions; Parents Dean & Lottie (Yost) McGregor; brother-in-law Mike Malecki; mother-in-law Karen (Debo) Pratt. |
