SOPKO,LAWANDA - Of Swartz Creek, age 87, died Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at Ascension Genesys Hospital.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service and inurnment will be held at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI at a later date.
Lawanda was born in Manila, Arkansas on July 10, 1932, the daughter of the late Galin and Lorrine (Throwbridge) Oats.
Lawanda loved doing home improvement projects such as painting and wallpapering for herself and friends. She liked playing cards, talking and traveling to local casinos.
Surviving are husband of 70 years, Francis J. Sopko;
children, Lynn and Tom Glassburn,
Richard Sopko,
Sheila Waider and Dennis Salinas,
Jim and Sharon Wright;
grandchildren, Christa Glassburn and husband Chuck Ventimiglia,
Jill and Brandon Williams,
Dan and Elizabeth Wright,
Keely Sopko,
Laurie Bolin and Jim Weinert,
John Waider and Jacqueline Cooper;
11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her children, John G. Sopko and Charles Sopko.
