SYTEK, Jan Kathryn – of Davison, Michigan, age 80, passed away on Friday, December 5, 2025. Cremation has taken place, and no services will be held at this time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Carriage Town Ministries.
Jan was born in Petoskey, Michigan on August 10, 1945, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Vera (Belding) Wagner. She married the love of her life, Philip “Butch” Sytek, on July 29, 1969, in Davison, Michigan. Together they shared 55 wonderful years of marriage until his passing on January 14, 2025. Jan had a deep love for the simple joys of life. She treasured gardening and antiquing, and especially loved collecting Petoskey stones along the lakeshore. A gifted art teacher, she enjoyed attending art shows and nurturing creativity in those around her. Jan found her greatest happiness in time spent with her sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved the outdoors—sitting on her deck, soaking in nature, going for bike rides, and taking peaceful evening boat rides with Butch. Throughout her life, she cared for many beloved cats and bunnies, each holding a special place in her heart. Jan will be remembered for her creativity and her unwavering love for family and nature.
Jan is survived by her children: Josh (Lisa) Sytek, and David (Wendy) Sytek; grandchildren: Allison (Brandon) Elliott, Andrew Sytek and Salena Sytek; great grandchildren: Vivian and Leland Elliott; brother-in-law: George (Nancy) Sytek; nieces: Kelly Haskill and Melissa Sytek; and many other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by parents, husband, Philip “Butch” Sytek, and her beloved Flossie.
