SCHAEFER, Phyllis Evelyn (Kelley) - age 93 of Fenton, passed away on Monday, October 28, 2019. Graveside Service will be held at 1:15 PM Monday, November 4, 2019, at Oakwood Cemetery, Fenton. Pastor Mark Cox will be officiating. The arrangements are by Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Fenton Museum or Adopt-a-Pet of Fenton. A celebration of Phyllis’ life will be held at Case’s Island on Lake Fenton in the spring.
Phyllis was born on April 29, 1926 in Fenton, and is the daughter of Lloyd and Jenny (Lonsbury) Kelley. She is a graduate of Michigan State College (Michigan State University). Phyllis taught English in the Mason and Fenton School Districts. She was a member of the Fenton Historical Society, and volunteered at the Fenton Museum. Phyllis was a great Fenton historian, and a voracious reader. She was a member of Spring Meadows Country Club, and enjoyed skiing at Boyne Mountain. She loved spending summers at Case's Island, and going on adventures with her grandchildren.
Phyllis is survived by: sons, Richard (Maggie) Schaefer and Michael Schaefer; grandchildren, Erica (Shawn Irwin) Schaefer and Richard (Laura) Schaefer; great grandchildren, Blake and Leah Irwin, Layla, Paige, and Rich Schaefer, Curtis and Ethan Wangler; and several nieces and nephews.
