BLOOMFIELD, Richard Arnold “Dick” – of Otisville, age 84, passed away August 22, 2016 at his residence. A Funeral Service will be held 1:30 PM Thursday, August 25, 2016 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison; Pastor Douglas Connelly officiating. Burial will be in Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-8 PM Wednesday, August 24, 2016 and 12:30-1:30 PM Thursday, August 25, 2016. Memorial contributions may be made to the Clio VFW Post #1452, Humane Society of Genesee County or the charity of one’s choice.
Dick was born in Clio, MI on April 15, 1932, son of the late Ray and Helen (Kovacs) Bloomfield. He married Anne Scherba on July 5, 1952 and she preceded him in death in 2004. Dick proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1950-1952. He was a member of Davison VFW Post #4087 and loved working the BINGO floor. Dick was a Job Setter and retired from AC Spark plug in December of 1982. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working in his pole barn and planting the big garden he always had.
Dick is survived by his daughter, Valorie Mercier; granddaughter, Lacole (Greg Kosma) Mercier; great-grandchildren, Christian and Alexis Rainey; brothers, Clare, Douglas (Pat) Bloomfield; sister, Nina (Henry) Fenner; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; cats, Missy Prissy, Snickers, Squirrelly and Henry the Rooster. Dick always enjoyed giving Henry bread and hearing him crow. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Ray, John, Kenny; sisters, Grace and Marilyn. Dick will be missed by all who knew him and loved him. The family would like to thank Dick’s special friends, Carol Williams, Bill Lott, Diane and Allen Cozart, John Swift, Will Perry, Kevin Kogut, Allen Johnson, David Rice, Vic Severn and Frank Coombe who helped him out and his caregivers, Tish Benjamin, Jenny Blue, Kathy Smith, Chris Childers, Karen Phillips, Juanita Mathews, Ann Robinson and many other girls who helped him.
