CHESTLER, Kenneth “Papa Kenny”– of Clio, age 63, died Friday, December 8, 2017 at home after a courageous battle with cancer. Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial gathering will be held on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 from 10AM until 12PM at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Ken was born on April 14, 1954 in Flint, Michigan to Harry and Norma (Harnetz) Chestler. He graduated from Flint Northwestern High School in 1972. He married Rhonda Palmer on May 19, 1973 in Flint, Michigan. Kenny retired in 2004 from Flint Truck and Bus after 31 years. He was a member of UAW Local #598. Ken was an avid outdoorsman and especially loved hunting and fishing. Ken liked traveling to Alaska and hunting out west. He also enjoyed NASCAR, spending time with grandchildren and family, tinkering in the garage, and renovating his cabins Up North in Lupton, Michigan.
Surviving are: Wife of 44 years, Rhonda Chestler; “His Girls”: Kristie (Dan) Witt, Karrie (Jason) Reid, Kellie (David) Chestler-Root, and Lynea (Aaron) Lilley; Grandchildren: Alexis (Frankie) Gievers, Aaron Gievers, Matthew Witt, Gabrielle Witt, James Root, Lindy Root, Hawksley Lilley, and Anabelle Lilley; Mother, Norma Chestler; Brothers (Brod): Craig (Barb) Chestler, Kirk Chestler; Sisters (Sud): Cindy (Dennis) Braun, Linda (Ted) Trathen, and special friends: Skip, Phil, Myke and Mark. He was preceded in death by his father, Harry Chestler. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Cecilia, Kim, and Karey of Heartland Hospice.
