CENCER, CARMEN MARIE age 83, of Frankenmuth, formerly of N. Ft Meyers, FL, Highland, MI, Carey, IL, Harper Woods, MI, passed away Sunday, September 2, 2018 at home with her family. Funeral Mass will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at the Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, 958 E. Tuscola Rd., Frankenmuth, MI. Fr. James Bessert officiating. Interment at Lee Memorial Park, Ft. Meyers, Fl. Carmen was born May 10, 1935 in Detroit, MI to parents George and Carmen (St. John) Portell. She was a member of Blessed Trinity Catholic Church and enjoyed weekly Bible Study groups with Fr. Bob and a Neighborhood group. Mom volunteered at the Ford Edison Estate while in Florida. A life long learner, she enjoyed several trips with the Elder Hostel Group. Mom loved the Lord and raised her children to love the Lord also. She was an encourager and championed the causes of many people, family and friends. She accepted people for who they were, and opened her home and heart to family and friends. Surviving are children Carmen (David) Sawchuk, Burt, MI, Peter (Elena) Cencer, Reno, NV, Robert (Laura) Cencer, Tipton, MI, Daniel Cencer, Bacliff, TX, Mike (Helen) Sawchuk, Suffolk, VA; grandchildren James Sawchuk, Nick (Eriny) Sawchuk, JD (Alana) Sawchuk, Betzi Sawchuk, Christie Cencer, Samantha (Ryan) Pierson, Tina Cencer, Iris Cencer, David Cencer; great-grandchildren Alex, Seth, Levi and Noah Sawchuk, David S. Sawchuk, Gina and Mina Sawchuk, Peter and Forest Pierson, Ezra Falk and Moss Reaume. Preceded in death by husband Peter. Contributions may be made to VNA Hospice and Blessed Trinity Catholic Church.
