Pamela Jane Payne, a beloved educator, creative spirit, and passionate adventurer, passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at the age of 71. She touched countless lives with her wisdom, warmth, and unwavering zest for life.
Born with a love of learning and the arts, Pamela dedicated much of her life to teaching English, public speaking, and theatre. She believed in the power of words and expression, and she inspired generations of students to find their voice and confidence. Whether on stage or in the classroom, she brought stories to life and lit a spark in those around her.
Beyond the classroom, Pamela was a woman of many passions. A lifelong learner and published author, she found joy in reading, writing, and exploring new creative outlets—from making jewelry and stained glass to painting beautiful scenes drawn from her imagination and her travels. Her green thumb was evident in her flourishing gardens, where she lovingly grew fruits, vegetables, and vibrant flowers.
Her love for the outdoors was matched only by her love for water. Whether swimming in a pool, sailing across a lake, or breathing in the salty air of the ocean, Pamela found peace and joy in nature. She especially cherished family road trips, boating adventures, and camping under the stars, creating memories that will last for generations.
A proud supporter and member of the Colorado State Police community, Pamela lived a life rooted in service, strength, and integrity. Her generous heart, sharp intellect, and indomitable spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her four children, five brothers, two sisters, nine grandchildren, and a legacy of creativity, courage, and love that will live on in the many lives she influenced.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jeffrey M. Payne, father Ralph T. Hawks and mother Lorry A. Hawks (Sytek). |
