Ackerman, Robert “Bob” - a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2024, at the age of 82. Honoring his wishes, cremation will take place. A celebration of life will be held at noon on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at Living Promise Fellowship Church - 7457 Elms Rd, Flushing Twp. Pastor Lyle Calkins to officiate. The family will receive visitors at church on Tuesday from 10AM until the time of service. An inurnment will take place at 11:00 on May 19, 2025 at Great Lakes National Cemetery with full military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to the Old NewsBoys.



Bob was born on July 6, 1942, in Iron Mountain, Michigan, Bob devoted his life to his family and community, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him. Bob married the love of his life, Helen Allen, on August 8, 1964. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. After enlisting in the United States Navy in 1961, Bob proudly served his country until 1965, achieving the rank of AN (E-3). His dedication to service continued as he transitioned into a fulfilling career at General Motors, where he worked for Local 599 for 30 years. Bob was an active participant at the Living Promise Fellowship Church and held memberships in the American Legion and the Fraternal Order of the Moose. His zest for life was evident in his many hobbies; he enjoyed bowling, golfing, baking, hunting, and was an avid fisherman. However, nothing brought him more joy than his grandchildren, whom he adored and cherished dearly. Bob was known for his kind heart, infectious smile, and unwavering support for his family. He was a devoted family man who was always on the go, ensuring that those around him felt loved and valued. His incredible spirit and warmth will be profoundly missed by all.



Surviving are: Loving wife, Helen Ackerman; Daughters: Kelly (Steve) Shands, and Paula (Allen) Tibbits; Grandchildren: Jacqueline (Andy) Slieff, Amanda Slieff, Stephen (Ashley) Shands, Brady Tibbits; He was blessed with 5 great grandchildren. He is preceded in passing by his parents, Robert and Helen Ackerman; Sisters: Rena Lesinski, Donna Archambeau, Julie Bissonette, and Linda Ackerman.
