BARBER, Erik Allen – Of Burton, age 50, died Saturday, March 30, 2019 at Henry Ford Hospital.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 5, 2019 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Thomas Hoose officiating.
Burial in Flint Memorial Park.
Visitation 12-2 p.m. and 4-8 p.m. Thursday and 12 p.m. Friday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Those desiring may make contributions to the Humane Society of Genesee County or Rett Syndrome Association.
Erik was born in Flint, Michigan on October 26, 1968, the son of Dale (Dawn) and Linda (Nerychel) Barber. He had multiple career roles throughout his lifetime, the latest as a Home Healthcare Giver for his step-daughter. He also volunteered as a Housing Counselor at Mission of Peace.
Erik had a phenomenal voice and was known for singing all genres. He had a pure love for music. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and was a big-time sports enthusiast, especially a fan of U of M, Detroit Tigers and Red Wings. Above all, his children were the most important thing in his life.
Surviving are wife, Patricia;
children, Jake Allen Barber, Joel Alexander Barber and Cassidy Rae Barber;
step-children, Kayla Anne Smith and Harbour (Pam) Smith;
2 grandchildren, Harbour Jr. and Casey James;
parents, Dale (Dawn) Barber and Linda Barber;
sister, Melissa (Todd) Jewell;
niece, Makenzie;
nephews, Jessy James Jewell, James Jewell and Jax Jewell;
uncle Frank (Kathy) Nerychel and family;
and his extended family of friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Melvin and Luella Barber, Frank and Helen Nerychel; step-grandparents, Donald and Jean Hazen.
