HENDERSHOT, Gregory – of Lapeer, age 78, passed away Sunday, February 1, 2026, at his residence. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423. Pastor Justin Dean officiating. The family will receive visitors from 11 AM-1 PM on Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The River Church in Davison, 2361 N Irish Rd, Davison, MI 48423 in Gregory’s memory.
Gregory was born in Sandusky, MI on May 13, 1947, son of the late Arthur and Marjorie (Smith) Hendershot. He married Janet Hart in 1991 and will forever be remembered as a selfless husband and family man. Greg loved working as a bricklayer. He began working with his dad and his brothers before joining Bricklayers and Masons Local 2. Greg was an avid outdoorsman. He loved fishing and hunting, even volunteering with Wheelin Team 457 to take disabled people hunting and fishing. Greg was a devout Christian who was proud to have used his skills to help build a church in Africa. He was also very active in his church, The River Church of Davison, where he was on the security team. While Christ was always first in his life, it was clear that family was a close second. Greg said that his grandchildren were what made his life sparkle. He was present at all of the activities he could make it to.
Gregory is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Janet Hendershot; three children, Jeffory (Susan) Hendershot, Sheila (Tod) Smith, and Jennifer (Charles) Hemingway; 3 grandchildren, Laura Gale Hendershot, Jaylin (Nick Lewis) Smith, Dmitri Smith; great-grandchildren, Addy, Liam, Ember, and Harper; 3 siblings, James D. Hendershot, Gerald W. (Sheila) Hendershot, Janice K. Hendershot; and many other loving family members and friends. Greg was preceded in death by his parents.
