SKAFF, Woodrow Wilson “Woody” - Of Flint, age 96, died Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at Gentiva Hospice. He was well known for his smile, his service, and his love of God.

A Memorial Service will be held 2pm Saturday, December 21, 2013
at First Presbyterian Church, 746 South Saginaw Street, Flint, MI 48502.

Dr. John L. Musgrave officiating.

Private burial will take place at Sunset Hills Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Flint, or Young Life of Genesee County.

Memorial visitation 3-9 Friday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. Memorial visitation 1pm Saturday until the time of the service at the church.

Woody was born in Owosso, MI on August 29, 1917, the son of the late George and Martha (Vandemark) Skaff. On September 16, 1940, he married Margaret McGee in Goodrich. She passed away in 1992. On October 16, 1993, he married Helen Baker and she preceded him in death in 2007. Woody was President and co-owner of Skaff Furniture Carpet One. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church for over 70 years where he was a Deacon, Elder and Trustee. Woody was instrumental in bringing Young Life to Flint and helped establish the Young Life Foundation. He was also involved with the Salvation Army, President of the YMCA and Big Brothers and Big Sisters and longtime member of the downtown Flint Rotary Club. He served on the Genesee Bank Board of Directors and was one of the charter members of the Victors Club at U of M. Woody also belonged to the Flint Golf Club. He was a supporter of the Carriage Town Ministries and Crossover/Downtown Outreach Ministry. His family established a scholarship at U of M Flint in his honor.

Surviving are children, Mary Martha (Chuck) Knoblock, George J. (Kathy) Skaff, Peggy (Bill) Anderson, Thomas W. (Judy) Skaff, Richard D. (Kimberly) Skaff;
grandchildren, David (Marcella) Knoblock, Sarah (Bijan) Dorostkar, Carrie Knoblock (Alex Dent), Renee’ Arter (Dennis Proffer), Martha (Brett) Morris, Woodrow (Pamela) Anderson, Margaret (Thomas) Buchan, William Skaff (partner David Xiques), Stephen (Kelly) Skaff, Katie(Joey) Novak, Libby (Matt) Jankowski, Jeffrey (Amanda) Skaff, Stephanie Skaff (fiancé Brandon Giles) and Erick Skaff;
21 great-grandchildren and one on the way;
6 great-great-grandchildren;
brother, Jack Skaff;
and many nieces and nephews. He leaves behind his special friend, Barbara Arndt. Thanks to Dr. Erick VanDuyne for his friendship and care for many, many years. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Tina, one brother, Don Skaff and two sisters, Pauline Angle and Marie Black.
