Born 12/19/1947 passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family 11/09/2025
Edward was born in Detroit, MI to Raymond and Josephine (Chisholm )Blake he had two brothers Joseph (Gloria) Blake, Raymond (Kate) Blake, and two sisters Judy (Joseph) Vargo and Margaret (Lori) Zinn. Edward also had two son John Helms and Shawn Helms. Grandchildren Myrical Helms, Grace Helms, and Shawn Helms Jr.
Edward proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War where he was shot by enemy fire and received a Purple Heart. After coming stateside Edward was employed at General Motors as a forklift operator for 31 years and was a proud member of UAW local 651 while proudly raising his family. Edward enjoyed fishing, golfing, and traveling while spending quality time with his family and friends.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Josephine, brother Joseph, sister Judy, and his son Shawn.
Per his request Edward has been cremated and will be placed at Great Lakes National Cemetery on November 21, 2025 at 10:00am and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
