HENRY, Roger C. – of Montrose, age 59, died Wednesday, November 12, 2014, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 4:30PM on Monday, November 17, 2014 at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Birch Run. Rev. Ted McCulloch officiating. Cremation to follow. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 12PM until the time of service at 4:30PM. Contributions may be made to the Great Lakes Maritime Academy (GLMA) or Taymouth Presbyterian Church.
Roger was born on July 18, 1955 in Flint, Michigan to the late Ray and Arlene (Pero) Henry. He graduated from Flushing High School in 1973 and later attended Northwestern Michigan College and the Great Lakes Maritime Academy where he graduated in 1984. Roger earned his Bachelor’s degree of science in Electrical Engineering from Western Michigan University in 1992. He married Cheryl Bernice Warner on June 27, 1998 in Chesaning, Michigan. Mr. Henry was an Electrical Engineer for Nexteer Automotive for 20 years. Roger was a member of Taymouth Presbyterian Church and was a building and grounds committee member. He was an ordained deacon for many years. Roger was also a member of Tau Beta Pi (Engineering Honor Society), Great Lakes Maritime Alumni Association, Western Michigan University Alumni Association and a previous member of Flushing Presbyterian Church where he held various leadership and member positions. He enjoyed football, hockey, golf and Maritime Industry events. Roger was an avid Western Michigan University football fan and Detroit Red Wings hockey fan.
Surviving are: wife, Cheryl Henry; nieces and nephews, Nichole, Sarah, Josh, Rachael, Jonathan, Katie and Bradley; great nieces and nephews, Alivia, Jackson, Smith, Ava and Presley; brother, Robert (Deborah) Henry; sisters, Janyce (Al) Selesky and Pam (Harvey) Workman.
