STAWASZ, Elizabeth L. “Betty” (Limmer)- Of Flint, age 73, went home to the open arms of the Lord, Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Saint Mary's–Covenant Hospital.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11am Thursday, May 15, 2014 at the St. Pius X Catholic Church, G-3139 Hogarth Avenue, Flint,
Father Robert F. Copeland officiating.
Burial in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Pius X Catholic Church or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Visitation 12-8pm Wednesday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. A Rosary will be prayed 7pm Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Elizabeth will be at the church 10am Thursday until the time of the Mass.
Elizabeth “Betty” was born in Flint on March 23, 1941 and was a resident of the Flint area all of her life. Betty graduated from Holy Redeemer High School and went on to the Congregation of the Sister of The Holy Cross. Betty married Fred L. Stawasz on April 28, 1973 in Flint and he preceded her in death on January 15, 2004. She dedicated her life to the Lord and shared her blessings with everyone around her. Betty was employed by Genesys Regional Medical Center for 36 years, retiring in 2004. She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and the Emmanuel Prayer Group in Mt. Morris. She was a puzzle expert, enjoyed researching family genealogy and spending time with her family.
Surviving are daughter, Rosemary Stawasz of Kalamazoo;
son, Paul of Kalamazoo;
2 Brothers, Francis Limmer and wife Marlene Cole of Flint and Ralph and wife Myra Limmer of Florida;
2 Sisters, Ruth Schmitzer of Otisville and Lorraine Raleigh of Fenton;
3 Sisters-in-law, Alice Stawasz of Flushing, Lucille Keely of Flint, Michel Stawasz of Kalamazoo;
many nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Ida Mae Limmer; 3 brothers, Gerald, Alois and Wayne Limmer; and 3 sisters, Shirley Atkinson, Caroline Thurman and Jean Bollis.
