MARIOTT, John Archie. - of Clio, age 76, died Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at Maple Woods Manor of Clio. Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place. A private memorial will be held in Flint Memorial Park at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Fellowship Baptist Church in Clio.
John was born June 26, 1941 in Little Rock, Arkansas to the late Archie and Essie (Williams) Mariott. He graduated from Northern High School in 1959 and later attended Mott Community College. He married Jewell “Julie” Ryder July 13, 1996 at a church in Crossroads Village. Mr. Mariott retired from General Motors in October of 1999 with 35 years seniority. He enjoyed fishing with his brother and best buddy, Larry, and golfing with his other buddy, John Kondon. John also enjoyed hunting, camping, football and baseball. He loved his 65’ Impala along with his grandson, Johnny.
Surviving are: Wife, Jewell “Julie” Mariott; Children: Melody Bunting, Tina Frayer, and Robin Hughes; 6 grandchildren; 1 great grandson; Sister, Leona Anderson; Brother, Larry (Diane) Mariott; Several nieces and nephews. John was also preceded in death by his sister, Louise Mariott.
