Eugene "Gene" Edward Lawcock

Age 67 of Owosso passed away Thursday, March 26, 2015 at Shiawassee Medical Care Facility.

Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, March 31 at 11am at Salem Lutheran Church with Pastor James Bare officiating. Burial will follow at Wilkinson Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Nelson-House Funeral Home on Sunday from 6pm to 8pm and Monday from 2pm to 8pm.

Eugene was born May 4, 1947 in Owosso, the son of R Kay and Zelma (Reed) Lawcock.

He graduated from Corunna High School in 1966. While attending Corunna High School, Gene was an athletic trainer and stayed on in that position for another 8 years after school. With support from parents and Coach Nick Annese they provided an ambulance service at the football field and basketball court.

He was the grandson of the former Sheriff George Parnell and Carrie (Baldwin) Lawcock.
Gene was elected the youngest top constable in Venice Township for 12 years following in his grandfather's footsteps in law enforcement.

He was very active in the community spending his time involved in several groups and organizations. Gene was a member of the Corunna Rotary, Gideon International, Owosso Township Fire Department, Owosso City Fire Department and the Shiawassee County Easter Seals, the Shiawassee County Sheriff Posse and the American Red Cross for 33 years

Gene worked at various places over the years including manager of the Big Boy Restaurant in Owosso, Bank Service Manager at Key State Bank, was an Inspector at Johnson Controls, and then retired from the State of Michigan Corrections. He also was a staff member at Nelson-House Funeral Homes for many, many years.

Gene is survived by a daughter, Karrie (Andy) Kenney of Traverse City, and three sons Paul (Emily) Lawcock of Jacksonville, FL, Brian Lawcock of Georgetown, KY and Daniel Lawcock of Owosso; grandchildren Helen, Sarah and Luke; brother George (Sharon) Lawcock of Corunna; sisters Caroline Scanlon of Chesaning and Shirley Davis of Laingsburg; sister-in-law Laurel Lawcock of East Lansing; many nieces, nephews, cousins and other loving family and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, brother Kenneth Lawcock and brothers-in-law Robert Davis and Maurice Scanlon.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Salem Lutheran Church or the American Red Cross.
