Nicole Renee Bates
Age 43 of Corunna passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at her home.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at the New Lothrop Church of the Nazarene. The family will receive friends at the Nazarene Church on Friday, October 18th from 4:00 to 8:00pm.
Nicole was born on September 24, 1976 to John R. Leonard and Nancy C. Blevins. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina. Nicole married Thomas E. Bates on August 21, 2004; they celebrated 15 years of marriage this year.
Nicole had a longtime career as an optician, and she most recently worked at the Walmart Vision Center. She was an adventurer who was consumed by wanderlust and loved seeing the world. She loved touring Europe and her travels to Jamaica and Florida. She had fond memories of her time living in Florida and Hilton Head Island. More than anything she loved her family. She moved back to Michigan to be with them. She enjoyed the outdoors and water, especially the times spent at the Leonard family cabin.
Nicole is survived by her husband, Thomas Bates; her children, Nickolaus Bates and Taylor Bates; her father, John (Rose) Leonard; her mother, Nancy (Curtis) Loper; her brother, Brandon (Jennifer) Leonard; her step-sisters, Tracey Cowles, Shannon Kuhn, Shandra (Joshua) Loper, and Renee (Geffrey) Samet; her grandmother, Doris Leonard; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
She is predeceased by her grandparents.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the family.
