PHEGLEY, Norma Lois Pettit – Of Grand Blanc, age 91, died Sunday, December 21, 2025 at her residence.
Memorial visitation will be held 3-7pm Tuesday, January 6, 2026 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.
Those desiring may make contributions to New Haven Baptist Church in Burton.
Norma was born in Messler, Missouri on September 28, 1934. On November 5, 1952, she married Jim Phegley in Paragould, Arkansas. Norma was a very dedicated and active member of New Haven Baptist Church in Burton for over 60 years. She was an avid Detroit Tigers fan, enjoyed playing cards with her friends and family, and cherished winters spent in Florida. Throughout her life, Norma played volleyball and softball, where her competitive spirit and love for the game were evident. She was also known for her selfless devotion to her late husband, Jim, caring for him with unwavering love. Her family will forever remember her famous chicken and dumplings, a dish that brought joy and comfort to all who gathered around her table.
Surviving are children, Greg (Ann) Phegley of Connecticut, Jeff (Patsy) Phegley of Georgia, Marty (Krista) Phegley of Linden, Tammy Sanders (Jerry-deceased) of Grand Blanc;
grandchildren, Brian (Anne) Phegley, Rachel (Josh) Jackson, Kiel (Jami) Phegley, Mark (Naomi) Phegley, Kacey Phegley, Bailey (Nick) Phegley, Clint Phegley;
honorary grandson, Chris Scheel;
and 9 great-grandchildren;
sister, Shelba Sutherland, brother, Donnie Pettit, sister, Betty Stearnes;
and several nieces, nephews and brothers-in-law.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jim, parents and three brothers.
