Charles “Bucky” Bucknam, age 78, of Fenton, Michigan, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2026, surrounded by his wife and children.
Bucky was born on November 18, 1947, in Waterville, Maine. He moved to Michigan during his tenth-grade year and graduated from Fenton High School in 1966. Following graduation, he proudly served in the United States Army, including two years in Korea. After returning home, Bucky began a long career as a tool and die maker with General Motors, where he worked for 41 years before retiring.
Bucky was a devoted member of Trinity Lutheran Church, generously giving his time and serving faithfully as both an elder and an usher.
Bucky shared many years with his first wife, Sandra Bucknam, until her passing. He later found love again with Linda, whom he married on September 14, 2013.
An avid golfer and enthusiastic pontoon captain, Bucky also loved line-dancing and swing-dancing with his wife. He lived by a few practical rules: don’t fix what isn’t broken, take care of what matters most, and enjoy life whenever you get the chance. His quick wit and fantastic sense of humor will be truly missed.
Bucky is survived by his beloved wife, Linda; his children, Scott (Tabitha) Bucknam, Jeffrey Bucknam, and Stacey McBride; and his stepchildren, Jay (Anne) Wykes and Brian (Jennifer) Wykes. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Silvia and Karah Bucknam, Amelia and Theodore Farley, Patrick and Trever McBride, and Emily and Addison Bucknam; seven step-grandchildren; twelve cherished great-grandchildren; and his sisters, Deborah (William) Kinney and Betsy McGlauflin.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sandra Bucknam; his parents, Hortense and Bob Bucknam; and his siblings, Joann Oberhide and Charles “Mick” Chambers.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, October 5, 2026, at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton, with Pastor Peter Ahlersmeyer officiating.
