Dallas was born in Flint, Michigan, on November 13, 1937, to the late R.G. and Beatrice (Hamilton) Fisher, Dallas proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps as a Korean War veteran, carrying with him the values of dedication, perseverance, and service throughout his life.
Following his military service, Dallas enjoyed a successful career with General Motors, retiring after 30 years as a supervisor in shipping and receiving. Retirement, however, was simply the beginning of a new chapter. Blessed with a creative mind and an inventor’s spirit, he developed numerous innovative products, including scrapbooking cabinets, rotating paint racks, and the StepDaddy Ladder. His inventions and hobbies took him across the country, allowing him to share his talents and enthusiasm with countless people. Dallas married the love of his life, Kay Tripp, in a ceremony as unique as he was - aboard a hot air balloon on July 12, 2002. Together they shared many wonderful years filled with love, laughter, and adventure. Dallas found great joy in the outdoors, especially on the water. An avid fisherman, he particularly treasured walleye fishing trips with his best friend, Larry Campbell. He was also a proud 50-year member of the Ken Brandt Memorial Golf Group, where he built lasting friendships and created countless memories. Perhaps more than anything, Dallas will be remembered for his generous heart and remarkable ability to connect people. He never hesitated to use his connections to help someone in need, and he always seemed to “know a guy who knew a guy.” Dallas’ legacy lives on through the lives he touched, the friendships he cherished, and the countless ways he made the world a little easier and a little brighter for those around him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
Dallas is survived by his loving wife, Kay Fisher; children: Tammy (Ralph) Collins, Annette Latimer, Jim (Nancy) Fisher, Sherry Legue, David Legue, Tomi Decker, Tracey Griggs, William (Kelly) Wilcox, Scott (Becky) Wilcox, Stacey (John) Doyle, and Angela (Tofer) von Hybschmann; daughter-in-law, Ellen Legue; 27 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; siblings: Douglas (Beverly) Fisher and Diane Robinson; many other loving family members and friends.
