Michael Darrell Hamacher -- of Flushing, Age 71, died December 7, 2020 with his family by his side. His passion was woodworking, making many beautiful heritage pieces for his family. His love for his family was overwhelming, with his favorite time spent with family in Ludington and teaching his grandchildren to fish. He loved traveling with Linda, his wife of 36 years. After graduation from Clio High School, Michael attended Anderson University on a baseball scholarship and he was eventually inducted into the Greater Flint Sports Hall of Fame. After his service in the US Army, he returned to school receiving his Bachelor’s Degree from University of Michigan. He worked in banking in the Flint area for many years, retiring in 2012. Michael is survived by his loving wife, Linda (Charles) Hamacher, his children Jayna (Hamacher) Phillips, son- in- law Donald, Stepson Joel Charles Phillips and Joel’s fiancé Regina Coulter. Michael’s five grandchildren always his pride and joy: Ethan Andrew, Ella Lynn, Nicholas Charles, Hudson Michael and Harrison Darrell. Born in Clio Michigan, He is preceded in death by his parents Darrell “Deke” and Verna Hamacher (Mahany), brothers David Herman Hamacher and Gary Hamacher. He is also survived by sister-in-law, Helen Hamacher of Grand Rapids, many dear nieces and nephews and extended family. His spirit will remain with us and his overwhelming love remembered always. Michael has been cremated and cremated remains interred at Great Lakes National Cemetery. A memorial service will be held when we can all be together safely. In lieu of Flowers, donations may be made to the Travis Mills Foundation that works locally towards assisting veterans in need (Travismillsfoundation.org).
