Gwendolyn (Rosborough) Goodrum was born November 6, 1952 in Flint, Michigan to Owen W. and Gertrude (Elbert) Rosborough. She was a graduate of Northwestern High School class of 1970. During her school years, she was a proud member of the cheerleading squad and shared her musical talents as a violinist in the school orchestra. After graduation, Gwen attended Mott Community College and graduated with an Associate Degree in Applied Science. She continued her education at the University of Washington, graduating with a Bachelor Degree of Science in Nursing.
Gwen was a dedicated Registered Nurse for many years in Flint, Michigan and provided that same dedicated service after moving to Washington state. Her astute knowledge, compassionate spirit and unwavering dedication to nursing touched countless lives throughout her career.
For the past 33 years, Gwen made her home in Federal Way, where she built a life filled with love, service, and community. She will be remembered for her warmth, strength, and the kindness she extended to everyone she met.
She lived a life full of joy, curiosity, and love. An avid traveler, she cherished exploring new places and experiencing the world around her. Some of her favorite activities included roller skating, strolling through museums, tending to her garden, and knitting for her family and friends. She had a passion for music and dancing, and quiet evenings often found her cuddled up with her beloved cats (Ralph, Roxie and Nisha) or watching her favorite show, Svengoolie. Above all, her greatest joy came from time spent with family. Whose lives she brightened with her warmth, laughter, and endless love.
Gwen leaves to cherish her memory husband, Jack Wassell, son Damon (Rhea), grandchildren Laylah and Malik, brother Gregory Rosborough, sisters Sherry Baker and Terry Coles, aunt Verma Rosborough, nephews Robert Gates, William Coles, Michael Coles, Eric Johnson, nieces Shenika Morris, Tia Coles, Sharae Rosborough, Raven Rosborough, and Camellia Coleman, a host of cousins and friends, special friend Helen Garland.
Gwen was preceded in death by her parents, Owen and Gertrude Rosborough and brothers, Robert Rosborough and William Rosborough.
Gwen’s legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Though her presence will be profoundly missed, her memory and spirit will continue to guide and inspire us.
