Joyce Marie (Kostka) Wilson passed away on October 30, 2026.
Joyce recently celebrated her 97th birthday with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren gathering at her home in Grand Blanc. She was born on August 26, 1929, and was raised in Flint’s Civic Park neighborhood. She graduated from Flint Central High School in 1947 and following graduation she worked in Buick’s accounting department before marrying Royce Wilson on September 9, 1950. Joyce and Royce raised five children living in Flint and Flushing, then in 1967 settling in Grand Blanc. Joyce was a devoted wife and mother and was an active member of Holy Family Catholic Church for nearly 60 years. She had a devotion to the Blessed Mother and like her father, prayed the rosary often. Her husband and five children all attended Michigan State University, and Joyce enjoyed being part of a MSU alumni wives of Flint club in the 50's and 60's. She remained an avid Spartan fan throughout her life and particularly enjoyed watching football and basketball games.
Widowed in 1988, Joyce continued raising her children and grandchildren and took much pride in caring for her yard and flowers at her home, before moving to a condo in 2014. Joyce possessed a strong, independent spirit and overcame many challenges she faced after having a stroke. Even in her late 90s, Joyce remained actively engaged with family, friends and neighbors. She loved traveling and shopping with her daughters on annual visits to Charlevoix, Petoskey, Harbor Springs and Shipshewana.
Joyce is survived by her five children, Steve Wilson of Grand Rapids, Kathy (Jim) Bondy of Sault Ste Marie, Sue (Stash) Cieciwa of Laingsburg, Marie Wilson of East Grand Rapids, and Joan (Ted) Bartus of Granger IN, as well as 11 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Royce, parents Michael and Evelyn Kostka and her brother Jack Kostka.

Visitation will take place at Hill Funeral Home, 11723 S. Saginaw Street, Grand Blanc 48439, on Friday, November 6, 2026 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. A Rosary will be prayed beginning at 7:00pm on Friday. A Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, 11804 S. Saginaw Street, Grand Blanc, Michigan 48439, on Saturday, November 7, 2026 at 10:00am with visitation beginning at 9:30am. |
