Janet “Jay” Lough, 76, a long-time resident of Lapeer, passed away August 26, 2014 from injures sustained in a tragic car accident while on her way to the Metamora Days parade. Jay was a member of the Lapeer County Voiture 1536 The Forty & Eight, Lapeer VFW, Lapeer Eagles, American Legion Post #16 Ladies Auxiliary and the Lapeer Moose Lodge. Jay had a heart of gold and was very active in raising money for many different charity organizations. She had a tremendous love for people and animals, especially her cat Pookie.

She is survived by her son Michael (Catherine) Janoski of Madison Heights; grandson Michael Janoski; her partner Skip Currier; sisters Sandra Crist and Linda (Ed) Lopez.

Preceded in death by her beloved husband Fred Lough on August 11, 1997; son Stanley Janoski; sister Marilyn.

Memorial donations to the Wounded Warrior Project are greatly appreciated.

A funeral service honoring Jay’s life will be held on Saturday, August 30th at 11:00 a.m. at Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors Capstick Chapel with Pastor Todd Smith officiating. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Friday from 1-8 p.m. A burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Alpena, MI at a later date.
