Blackmore, Cecil “Neil” of Flushing, age 89, died Monday, January 5, 2026, at his home. A memorial service will be held at a later date. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Clevland Clinic in Neil’s name.
Cecil “Neil” was born in Flint, Michigan on November 1, 1936, the son of Cecil Lloyd and Lorraine McClaine (Boyce) Blackmore. He was a graduate of Flushing High School, class of 1954. He then graduated from Flint Junior College and later attended U of M-Flint and the University of Illinois. Neil was employed by General Motors at AC Spark Plug/AC Rochester where he held several positions in sales and marketing, retiring after 31.5 years. After retiring, he became the Motorsports Coordinator for AC Delco in the Indy Car Racing Series.
Neil enjoyed being involved in the Flushing community. He served on the Flushing Planning Commission. He was a Charter Member of S.A.L.T. (Seniors and Law Enforcement Together), which is sponsored by the Flushing City Police Department where he served for over 22 years. One of his favorite activities was heading up a group of volunteers who for 15 years assisted in traffic control at the annual CRIM Festival of Races.
Neil enjoyed the great outdoors. He loved hunting and fishing and his fishing trips to North Canada and Pine Island in Florida. In his later years, he enjoyed dancing to live country and polka music.
Neil is survived by his loving partner of 17 years, Ginny Talaga; children, Dianna and husband Jerry Winer, Christopher and wife Karen Blackmore; brother, David and wife Barbara Blackmore; grandchildren, Adalee and husband Aaron Grace, Conner and wife Mackenzie Robertson, Brooke Blackmore, Cameron Blackmore; great-grandchildren, Wren, Ridge, Bentley, Colton, Cooper; and seven daughters of Ginny and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Byron and Gary Blackmore; and son-in-law, Richard Robertson. |
