Stark, Thomas S.; age 85 of Alma passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Prestige Centre in Mt. Pleasant. Tom was born January 16, 1933 to Stanley and Ida Stark. He graduated from Midland High School and later from Central Michigan University and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Tom was a life member of both Fellowship Lodge 236 in Flint and Flint Chapter 138 Order of the Eastern Stars. He was also a member of Alma Lodge 244, Alma Chapter 43 and the Scottish Rite Consistory. He married his wife Ann in August of 1956. They started their life together in Midland where he worked for the C + O railroad before moving to Flint and working 33 years as an accountant for Buick. Tom was a hard worker and started doing taxes in the 60’s for a local firm. He later had his own tax and accounting business for several years. He was diagnosed with dementia, which caused him to stop doing the taxes he loved. Tom and Ann moved to Alma in 1995. He was a very kind, gentle, loving, and giving man to all who knew him. He would have given anyone the shirt off his back. Tom is survived by his children Elizabeth (Donald) Reed of Westminster, CO, Barbara (Craig) Barton of Brighton, and Mary (Brian) Montney of Shepherd; 8 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and brother-and-sister-in laws Tom and Kathy Shepard of Shepherd. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Ann in 2011. Cremation has taken place and there will be a memorial service on Saturday, June 9, at 10am at the Shepherd United Methodist Church with Tom Shepard officiating. Interment will take place after at Homer Township Cemetery with both Thomas and his wife Ann. Memorials in Tom’s behalf can be made to Mid-Michigan Hospice
