SMITH, Gary – of Davison, age 81, passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at Henry Ford Genesys. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held 2 PM Saturday, February 15, 2025 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423; Pastor Jan Duce officiating. The family will welcome visitors from 12 PM until the time of the service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Food Pantry at Richfield Church of the Nazarene, in Gary’s memory.
Gary was born in Flint, MI on October 7, 1943, son of the late Clayton and Cathryn (Leffler) Smith. Gary married the love of his life, Cynthia “Jane” Spencer, on July 6, 1968. He dedicated many years of hard work to GM Truck & Bus before retiring in 1994. An avid outdoorsman, Gary found true joy in hunting, fishing, and simply being surrounded by nature. Nothing made him happier than watching deer and other wildlife visit his backyard. Known for his quick wit and signature sarcasm, he had a knack for making people smile. Summers were always spent in Frankfort, MI, a place close to his heart. One of his favorite daily traditions was gathering with his cherished “Coffee Club” friends at the Davison McDonald’s. Above all, Gary treasured the time spent with his family and friends, creating lasting memories filled with laughter and love.
Gary is survived by his loving wife, Jane; children, Rebecca Romzek and David Smith; grandchildren, Lauren (Absalon) Johnson, Seth Romzek, Amelia Romzek, Noah Romzek, and Rylan Smith; brother, Jim (Casey) Smith; and many other loving family members and friends.
