Scott Taggart, age 56, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. A private memorial service was held.
Born on March 27, 1970, Scott lived a life defined by love, loyalty, laughter, and an unwavering devotion to his family. He was the beloved fiancé of Dawn, a proud father to his daughter, Madison (Darion), and a loving stepfather to Kelly and Taylor (Corey). He was a devoted son to William and Carol Taggart, a cherished brother to Kimberly and Billy, and a proud uncle to Brendan and Carson.
Above all else, Scott’s proudest title was “Papa Scott.” Nothing brought him greater happiness than his grandchildren—Palmer, Gabriel, and Macie. He was there to welcome each of them into the world, holding them with love from their very first moments. He never missed a birthday, a game or special event, and was always the first to show up with encouragement, a smile, and unconditional support. His family never had to wonder if Papa Scott would be there—he always was. His grandchildren knew they were his greatest pride and greatest joy, and the love he poured into their lives will remain with them forever.
Scott devoted more than three decades of his life to Madden’s Lounge in Davison, where he became a familiar face and a trusted friend to countless patrons, coworkers, and members of the community. His warm smile, quick wit, generous heart, and welcoming spirit made everyone who walked through the doors feel at home. To Scott, Madden’s was more than a workplace—it was family, and the friendships he built there meant the world to him.
Outside of work, Scott enjoyed golfing, playing hockey, and making memories with family and friends. No matter where he was, what mattered most was simply being together.
In the final chapter of his life, Scott faced illness with extraordinary courage and strength. His resilience and unwavering devotion to his family inspired everyone who walked beside him. Even during the most difficult days, he remained focused on what mattered most—the people he loved.
Scott will be remembered for his infectious smile, compassionate heart, unwavering loyalty, and the kindness he so freely gave to others. His greatest legacy is not found in what he accomplished, but in the lives he touched, the family he cherished, and the countless memories he created with those he loved most.
Scott is survived by his beloved fiancé, Dawn; his daughter, Madison (Darion); his stepdaughters, Kelly and Taylor (Corey); his treasured grandchildren, Palmer, Gabriel, and Macie; his loving parents, William and Carol Taggart; his sister, Kimberly; his brother, Billy; his nephews, Brendan and Carson; along with many extended family members, dear friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know him.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the physicians, nurses, and caregivers at Michigan Medicine for the compassion and exceptional care they provided throughout Scott’s journey.
His life was measured not by the years he lived, but by the love he gave. That love will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends
