Earl "Dean" Smith
Age 93, of Owosso, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 20, 2026.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 25, 2026, at Nelson-House Funeral Home with Pastor Dean Rhine officiating. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. The family will welcome friends for visitation at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Born on July 26, 1933, in Rector, Arkansas, Dean was the cherished son of Henry and Lorraine (Oakley) Smith. He fondly reminisced about his adventurous youth, particularly his love for hunting and fishing, although he often found himself dozing off in the boat.
On January 20, 1973, Dean married the love of his life, Joanne Beebe, in Flint, Michigan. Together, they created a warm and loving home.
Dean dedicated many years to the construction industry, where he specialized in operating heavy equipment.
He is survived by his beloved daughter, Brenda Gale; son, Bradley (Karri) Smith, Linda (John) Jowers and Harold (Nan) Jowers; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought him immense joy.
Dean was predeceased by his wife, Joanne Smith; his daughter, Kathy Smith; and his parents, Henry and Lorraine Smith.
