HALE, Shirley A. (Swackhamer) – of Davison, age 83, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at her residence. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423; Elder Ryan Wier officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Davison Cemetery. The family will welcome visitors from 2-7 PM on Tuesday and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Shirley was born in Shelby, OH on July 25, 1942, daughter of the late Lawerence and Ladorna (Feller) Swackhamer. She married Gary R. Hale in Jonesville, MI on January 5, 1963, and he preceded her in death on September 12, 2005. Shirley graduated from Hillsdale College and was a teacher at Kearsley for 35 years. Most of her career was spent teaching 6th grade. She also served as a union representative. Shirley’s faith was very important to her, and she lived that faith by being an active member at Trinity United Presbyterian USA Church; serving in various capacities such as a deacon, elder and choir member. She loved music and passed that love on to her children and grandchildren. Shirley will be deeply missed and remembered for her kindness and her generosity, which she shared with all whom she encountered.
Shirley is survived by her children, Christopher Hale, Kimberly Sue (Bradley) Macko, Patrick David (Rita) Hale; 10 grandchildren, Nicholas (Michelle) Hale, Katharyne Hale, Sydney Hale, Chandler Hale, Reagan (Michael) Cooper, Chase Hale, Alysha (Joseph) Jenkins, Amanda Fleming, Bailey Macko, Kayden Macko; 5 great-grandchildren; brother, Lawrence (Susan) Swackhamer; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, Shirley was preceded in death by her sister, Susan A. Kisseberth.
