Junior Van Horn, age 70, passed away on Friday, December 11, 2015 at McLaren – Flint. Junior was born on May 9, 1945 in Flint to parents Cyrus and Mary (Elliott) Van Horn. He was a hard worker, retiring in 2001 from GM Truck and Bus after 37 years. Junior enjoyed many things including: sports – both playing in his younger years and rooting for his favorite teams the San Francisco 49ers and Detroit Tigers; playing cards, especially euchre – he was even the UAW Champion one year; going to the senior center, and participating in the Senior Winter Olympics. But most of all, he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Junior will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 33 years, Linda (Nichols) Van Horn; children: Richard (Kim) Van Horn, Donna Van Horn, Steven (Ronda) Van Horn, Jeffrey Van Horn; step-children: Kevin Nichols, Richard J. McDermott, Kristina McDermott, Sherry McDermott; 15 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; brother, Jerry Van Horn; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. He was preceded in death by both parents; son, William Leslie Van Horn; former wife; Delores Van Horn; three brothers: Jesse Charles, William, and Robert. Please consider making a memorial contribution to North Baptist Church in memory of Junior. Funeral Services will be held at 11am on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at Reigle Funeral Home, 5501 W. Pierson Rd., Flushing. Dr. David Todd Meece officiating. Visitation will be on Monday, December 14, 2015 from 1-8pm at the funeral home. Interment at Flint Memorial Park. |
