Dr. Darrell R. Boyd, a devoted husband, father, and Papa passed away peacefully on April 12, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was 87 years old.
Funeral service will be held at 4pm on Friday, April 17, 2026, at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.

Visitation 2pm Friday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Born on December 5, 1938, in Flint, MI to Ralph and Gladys Boyd. A graduate of University of Michigan. He went on to earn his degree from the University of Detroit Dental School in 1966. For 47 years Darrell practiced Dentistry in Fenton Michigan where he was a trusted professional to generations of families. Known for the genuine care he showed to every patient, he retired in 2013.
On June 25, 1976, Darrell married Debra Presser in Fenton Michigan. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 50 years, Debbie; daughters Melissa Boyd and Stephanie (Brandon) Gerard; and son Christopher (Shannon) Boyd. His greatest pride and joy were his children and 8 grandchildren who knew him as Papa: Joey, Brady, Willow, River, Laiden, Drew, Kennedy, and Charlotte. Darrell was proceeded in death by his parents; his three brothers, Dwayne, Donald, and Doug; and his son-in-law Ryan Whitmore.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Alara Caring Hospice for the kindness and exceptional care given to Darrell over the last two years. They also wish to express their deepest gratitude to Phyllis and Olivia for the loving care and support they provided to Darrell and the entire family during his final weeks.
