Jim was born in Flint, MI on August 28, 1946, son of the late Wilbert and Mildred (Williams) Guelette. A graduate of Bentley High School’s Class of 1964, Jim went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War from 1966 until 1972. His years of military service reflected the patriotism, dedication, and strength of character that remained with him throughout his life. On August 5, 1972, Jim married Phyllis Keefer, beginning a marriage built on love and countless cherished memories. A hardworking entrepreneur with a passion for serving his community, Jim was the proud owner of The Tire Shop and All-American Car Company, both located in Davison, MI. Through his businesses, he built not only a respected reputation but also many lasting friendships with customers and colleagues who appreciated his honesty, knowledge, and personable nature.

Jim had a competitive spirit and a sharp mind, making him a skilled poker player who thoroughly enjoyed card games of all kinds. However, his greatest passion was hot rods. He loved everything about classic cars—the craftsmanship, the power, and the camaraderie that came with sharing that enthusiasm with others. Whether talking cars, attending events, or working on a project, Jim was truly in his element.

A dedicated sports fan, Jim was a longtime season ticket holder for the Flint Generals ice hockey team and rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his favorite players. Yet, beyond his hobbies and accomplishments, what people will remember most was his incredible sense of humor. Jim had a gift for making people laugh and brightening any room he entered. His quick wit, playful spirit, and ability to find joy in everyday moments brought smiles to countless faces throughout his life.

Above all, Jim treasured the time he spent with his family and friends. His legacy is one of service, hard work, laughter, and love. He will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever held close in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Jim is survived by his wife of 53 years, Phyllis Guelette; 3 siblings, Nancy MacKenzie, Richard (Suzi) Guelette and Dawn Guelette; many other loving family members and good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbert and Mildred Guelette.
