CUNNINGHAM, Daniel L. - of Birch Run, age 72, went peacefully home to be with his Lord on Thursday, January 8, 2026. Funeral services will be held at 11AM Friday, January 16, 2026, at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Pastor Barry Briggs officiating. Burial to follow at Thetford Township Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Thursday from 5PM until 7PM, and on Friday from 10AM until the time of service at 11AM. Memorial contributions may be made to The Friends of the Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge (SNWR).
Dan was born on November 5, 1953, in Kennett, Missouri, the first child born to the late William "Tom" and Ada "Sue" (Ross) Cunningham. He graduated from Clio High School in 1971, where he met the love of his life, Elizabeth “Ann” Scott. They were married on July 13, 1974, and shared 51 happy years together. Dan worked in the automotive industry and retired from General Motors. He was a faithful servant of the Lord and attended New Covenant Free Methodist Church. Dan was an avid outdoorsman who spent countless hours fishing, hunting, paddling, camping, and exploring the great outdoors. He was passionate about music and could often be found singing, playing guitar, and performing. Dan was also a dedicated volunteer, giving many years to coaching high school and college softball and helping maintain the Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge. He enjoyed traveling and embracing new people and experiences with each adventure.
A dedicated family man and friend, Dan leaves behind - Wife: Annie Cunningham, Children: Brad (Rhea) Cunningham and Stefanie (DJ) Williams; Grandchildren: Drew Williams, Ruby and William Cunningham; Siblings: Dave (Melody) Cunningham, Sarah (John) Bostwick, and Rhonda Mulligan; In-laws: Tom (Carol) Scott, Kerry (Dale) Weaver, and Don (Anne) Scott; Many other dearly loved family members and friends.
