Mrs. Betty E. (Woolworth) Watkins of Millington, Michigan passed away late Sunday evening September 11, 2016 while at the Genesys Regional Medical Center in Grand Blanc, Michigan. Betty was 87.
Betty was the daughter of the late Eurmin and Beulah (Atkinson) Woolworth and was born in Flint, Michigan on December 4, 1928. As a child Betty grew up in the Clio area and graduated from the Clio High School. On July 28, 1951 Betty married George A. (Buck) Watkins. Together Betty and Buck celebrated 35 years of marriage before Buck passed away in 1986. Betty retired from the once known Volplex Manufacturing company in Vassar, Michigan. Betty retired in 1990 after 35 years of employment. Betty loved spending time feeding and watching the birds and listening to country music.
Betty leaves her daughter and son in-law Theresa and Nelson Hughes to cherish her memory. She leaves also two brothers James and wife Dawn Woolworth, Alan and wife Janet Woolworth, a sister Linda and husband Francis Nielsen, as well as nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Besides her parents and husband Betty is also precede in death by; a son Thomas in 1981, and seven of her siblings.
Betty’s family will receive friends at the Hanlin Funeral Home on Wednesday September 14, 2016 from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm and also on Thursday from 12:30 pm until the services begin. Funeral services for Betty will be held on Thursday September 15, 2016 at 2:00 pm, with the burial to follow at the Millington Twp. Cemetery. Pastor Roger Hazen will deliver the funeral message and the committal prayer at the cemetery. Memorial gifts of remembrance can be directed to a charity of one’s choice.
