David L. Perez – Of Burton, formerly of Gladwin and Shelby Township passed away Saturday, February 18, 2017, at his home. Funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Father Gary Koenigsknecht officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, noon to 3:00 p.m. for friends with the service at 3:00 p.m
An Eagle Service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Burial will take place Thursday, February 23, 2017 at the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Mi. at 1:30 p.m.
David served four years in the Navy, having played in the ship’s orchestra as well as a rock and roll band. He retired from LTV Steel Mill while living in Shelby Township. After retiring, he moved to Gladwin on Secord Lake where he became a charter member of Secord Eagles and also served on the Zoning Board. He was also a member of Burton Eagles Aerie # 3814 having served as president five times and was Eagles State Cancer Chairman for five years.
David was joined in marriage to his wife, Jackie, on February 18, 1989. Surviving is his loving wife, sons David (Marge) Perez Jr., Michael Perez Mosley, daughters Debbie (Brian) Jackson and Angela (Andy) Ryner, Katrina Cipriani, Stepsons Wayne Jr. (Lisa) Murray, Dale (Rebecca) Murray , son in law Bob Desmarais; brother, Louis Perez and his beloved dog, Bogart; several grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Felix and Mabel, two sisters and loved daughter Andrea Desmarais.
